To the Grandparents of an Angel

We see you grandparents.

We see that you are grieving too.

We see that you had hopes and dream that never came to be.

We see that you miss your grandchild too.

We see that you are grieving the “what would’ve been” memories.

We see that you are in pain because your son or daughter is in pain.

We see that you might not know what to say, that’s ok.

We see that you want desperately to fix it, but you can’t.

We see that you would take the pain away if you could.

We see your loss as valid too.

We are so sorry your never got to meet your grandchild.

It's a pain we know we cannot fix or take away.

Although our experiences may be different through losing this child, we hope your heart heals too. We might not know how to help you, but we will be there to grieve with you. Sometimes we might not know how to cope with the day and you might not know what to do. That’s ok. Just be there. Just be present.

If you have times of sadness, please know that’s ok. You don’t always have to be so strong for us. You don’t always have to know what to say. You don’t always have to try to fix it. We get it.

To the grandparents of an angel grandchild, we see you.
